EV-Safe Flatbed Towing

Most electric vehicles should not be towed with drive wheels on the ground. Their motors can generate current and overheat, and improper hook points can damage the battery pack. ChargePatrol arranges flatbed towing with EV-aware handling.

Overview

EV-Safe Flatbed Towing from ChargePatrol

If the issue is simply a low battery, dispatch will usually recommend mobile charging first because it is faster and usually cheaper than a tow.

When to call

  • The vehicle shows a fault that makes it unsafe to drive
  • Collision or tire damage
  • The car is in a spot where charging cannot be done safely
  • You need the car moved to a dealer or service center

Can an EV be towed with two wheels on the ground?

Generally no. Most manufacturers require a flatbed or wheel dollies. Always follow your owner’s manual; our operators use flatbeds for EVs.

How do I put my EV in tow mode?

Most EVs have a tow or transport mode in the settings menu. If the car has no 12V power, the operator can help with a 12V boost first.
